Coastwide Civil was started by Gary and Helen Rogers from humble beginnings with a small backhoe. Gary had seen this machine spread out in a yard in bits and pieces, with many major parts missing. Gary purchased the machine, and set about rebuilding it in a small shed in Kiama. After rebuilding the backhoe, Gary and Helen tendered for and won a small contract with the water board in their home town of Kiama. With hard work they began to see the company grow and with continual growth they soon realised a move to larger premises was inevitable. The company moved to Albion Park in the Eighties where it remains today. Since the initial start Gary and Helen have never looked back, Coastwide Civil has grown progressively to become one of New South Wales leading Specialist Marine and Civil Contractors. Gary and Helen's three sons have grown up with the company, working with their parents on weekends and school holidays. Their sons are now directors within the company, each qualified in their field of expertise, and each licenced to drive all of Coastwide Civil's plant and machinery. Scott is an qualified surveyor, Craig (Rusty) is qualified mechanical engineer and Tim a qualified civil engineer. Collectively they now run Coastwide Civil with their parents, a team of professionals and a dedicated workforce. Gary has taught his sons that running a company is not done from a desk, but from being actively involved on site interacting with the men and our clients - in other words, being accountable.
