The Fluke 9173 Dry Well Calibrator is designed for work between 50 °C and 700 °C and has a display accuracy of ±0.25 °C at 700 °C and an immersion depth of 203 mm. It also features interchangeable probe sleeves that fit various sized diameter probes, with a controller that uses a PRT sensor and thermoelectric modules or heaters to achieve stable, uniform temperatures throughout the block. The LCD display continuously shows many useful operating parameters including the block temperature, block stability, heating and cooling status, current set-point, built-in reference thermometer temperature, cutout temperature, stability criteria, and ramp rate. The temperature is easily set with the control buttons to any desired temperature within the calibrator's specified range along with the Fluke 9173  featuring four different preprogrammed calibration tasks that allow up to eight temperature set points with “ramp and soak" times between each. There is also an automated “switch test" protocol that zeros in on the “dead-band" for thermal switches.
